The 2024 Workshop on Nuclear Supply Chain: Assurance Today, Confidence Tomorrow
Suppliers play a critical role in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants. With a declining number of nuclear grade suppliers and a loss of skills in some regions, supply chain oversight raises specific challenges that require regulators to adopt new practices and increase co-operation. In this context, the newly established NEA Working Group on Supply Chain (WGSUP) will organize a workshop to build on the Agency’s previous work in the field of the nuclear supply chain and to discuss latest challenges.

First Request for Qualifications Issued for Generating Clean Energy on DOE-Owned Lands

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued for public comment the first Request for Qualifications (RFQ) related to the Cleanup to Clean Energy initiative focused on generating clean energy on DOE owned lands.

Building on the Request for Information issued in August, the draft RFQ includes details about the effort, outlines factors that may be considered during evaluation of future proposals and solicits input from parties interested in leasing land at the Hanford Site in Washington State to develop utility scale carbon pollution free electricity projects (CFE).

DOE Releases Funding Opportunity Announcement for Community Capacity Building Grant Program
DOE Office of Environmental Management | December 6, 2023

the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Environmental Management released a competitive Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for the Community Capacity Building Grant Program (CCBGP). Eligibility for awards is restricted to Disadvantaged Communities and DOE anticipates making multiple financial assistance awards.

The awards will focus on reinvestment in disadvantaged communities impacted by decades of nuclear defense and research missions, and currently hosting environmental cleanup sites. The awards will also focus on strengthening relationships with communities by supporting projects that serve community and economic development goals, promote revitalization efforts, and promote inclusive community engagement practices.
