Advocating in Olympia |
Over the past three weeks, Director of Governmental Affairs, Cassie Hammond has been in Olympia ensuring the Port of Benton’s priorities are heard.
Hammond testified four times on two key bills that would directly benefit the Port of Benton and community.
HB 1058/SB 5063 would provide tax incentives for freight infrastructure, helping ports, like the Port of Benton, repair aging rail lines critical to local businesses. Hammond also spoke in support of HB 1057/SHB 1057, which would help smaller ports access federal grant funding—an opportunity many miss out on due to financial and staffing barriers. These efforts are essential to strengthening our region’s economy, improving infrastructure, and keeping the Port of Benton competitive.
Hammond will continue working with legislators to advocate for the resources our community needs. |
